World’s Longest and Heaviest Train

The world’s longest and the heaviest train, Convoy, has a formation of 682 wagons laden with steel minerals, linking mines of Yandi and New Man at Port Hedland in eastern Australia. With a length of 7.3 km and weighing over 1,00,000 tonnes of load, this freight train takes 10 hours to cover 275 km stretch, despite being hauled by 8 locomotives. Better known as ‘Mole,’ this is a slow moving train.
